Hooray, and welcome to our first Rockstar Sponsor Feature! Let me introduce you to Gillian of Briliant Beads…a fantabulous jewellery maker and glass artist! Gillian is currently being featured in the Creator Spotlight over at Icraft. Hop on over there an take a peak into the creative process of lampwork beadmaking!

Right now there’s a fantastic sale going on over in the Brilliant Beads ICraft Shop…Gillian is offering 20% off all finished jewellery…earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and sets. Refund will be off the invoice, by Paypal. Lampwork beads are excluded. Buyer must put INDIENORTH20% in their notes to seller, or by separate email, at time of purchase.

There are numerous ways you can contact Gillian about her beautiful creations.

A very, very big thank you to Gillian of Brilliant Beads for being a Rockstar Sponsor on IndieNorth!

a. Turquoise Wheel, Copper Pendant: This large donut of stabilized turquoise has been wrapped with a complex swirling design. The bail has been woven intricately as well, large enough to accommodate a thick cord or chain.
b. Golden Threads Sterling Silver Pendant: The focal bead in this pendant is a gorgeous clear quartz with golden rutile. Lovely inclusions float through this stone and there are two phenomenal rainbows hidden in it’s depths.
c. Moonbeams Sterling Silver Necklace: If you look at the center frame of this necklace you will see a crescent moon turned on it’s side. Created from fine (99.9%) silver, hand formed and textured. I’ve wrapped the bottom of this moon with Tanzanite and Chalcedony.
d. Copper Shawdows, Copper Pendant: A copper frame has been created by hand from solid copper wire, woven with fine copper wire and sparkling black spinel stones.

There are so many nifty items I could have choosen to feature from
The Little Red Door, but since I loooooove all things mushroom-y, I settled on these little beauties. Each mushroom is sold separately, but I thought this pic shows off a bit of the variety you’ll find in this sweet little shop!
These little mushrooms make colourful & interesting additions to potted plants, flower beds, window boxes, curio shelves, mantels, anywhere for a touch of whimsy. All are truly one of a kind, no two are identical. This mini mushroom was hand-formed buff white stoneware clay, dried, bisque-fired, glazed, then fired again @ cone 6. Completion of a miniature item from lump of clay to glossy little objet d’art is about 2 weeks.
Besides mushrooms, The Little Red Door is full of cute tiny little houses, full sized housewares and pretty ceramic pendants. You’ll find all kinds of treasures to add a touch of whimsy wherever it’s needed!

It’s been a while since I’ve featured a book on IndieNorth, so I’m terribly pleased to introduce you to author Matthew Shepherd.
Matt’s been working on a comic adaptation of what he considers “the single greatest damn pirate novel of all time”: Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini.
To see the first eight pages of this fantastic new comic, click here!
Says Matt:
it is, in my obviously biased opinion, a great adaptation of an even better novel. Even if you do decide to check out the comic, I can’t stress enough that you still need to read the original book — it’s a spectacular read (click here to go to the Project Gutenberg version), and even serves as a primer on the Monmouth rebellion and the powderkeg of inter-European politics in the 18th century. We’re scrambling to do it justice with our sepia-and-white rendition of it.
You can also keep up to date with Matt’s opinion of the world around him at his blog: shep.ca. or follow him on twitter. (And if you do, tell him he needs an avatar)

It seems to me that a good many of the women I know are going to be having babies in the next little while, so I was thrilled to be directed to Northern Baby…a pretty little etsy shop stocked full of cloth diapers, wipes and inserts made from organic bamboo velour! Go check out the shop…you’ll find a fabulous variety of cozy diapers in such gorgeous fabrics you won’t want to dress your little one! Northern Baby makes cloth diapering fashionable and easy!
