It’s been a while since I’ve featured a book on IndieNorth, so I’m terribly pleased to introduce you to author Matthew Shepherd.
Matt’s been working on a comic adaptation of what he considers “the single greatest damn pirate novel of all time”: Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini.
To see the first eight pages of this fantastic new comic, click here!
Says Matt:
it is, in my obviously biased opinion, a great adaptation of an even better novel. Even if you do decide to check out the comic, I can’t stress enough that you still need to read the original book — it’s a spectacular read (click here to go to the Project Gutenberg version), and even serves as a primer on the Monmouth rebellion and the powderkeg of inter-European politics in the 18th century. We’re scrambling to do it justice with our sepia-and-white rendition of it.
You can also keep up to date with Matt’s opinion of the world around him at his blog: shep.ca. or follow him on twitter. (And if you do, tell him he needs an avatar)
Thanks, Beth! It’s been a blast to work on this book, and I’m looking forward to seeing it on the stands.
My pleasure Matt! I’ll be looking for it on the stands as well!
Ooh, I dig before and after shots
Great feature!
And yes, Matt needs an avatar!
I’ll cut © my response again! lol
Oh wow! Great stuff, I’m lovin’ it. I have a weakness for graphic novel too….sigh…
lol…I’ll delete your “ooops” comment and no one will ever know.
Thanks Beth! ☺
