Friday’s Tidbit: Handwoven Recycled Denim Rag Rug, from FiveForty

I don’t think there’s anything as comfortable on earth as a well worn, much loved pair of jeans, so the idea of a gorgeous handwoven rug made from cast-offs immediately caught my attention!  This beautiful floor covering was created by Pegg Cambell, of FiveForty, and I am in looooove!

This big, beautiful denim rug, was handwoven by me on my upright tapestry loom. It is woven out of 42 pairs of recycled denim jeans. It is sturdy yet soft at the same time. It will wear like your favourite pair of jeans, the colour will soften with age.
It is 48″ X 56″, no fringe. It is a gorgeous range of blues and black.

It can be handwashed, dry cleaned or washed in your bath tub, it is too big for your washing machine. It can be hung to dry and or laid flat to dry.

You can check out many more handwoven rugs and a beautiful selection of handcrafted jewellery at FiveForty!

Fiveforty’s rugs are incredible. I scooch around all over my kitchen with mine. I HATE not having it underfoot when I am working.

  5. Gorgeous rug!! I would so love to own one of these….They remind me of rugs at my grandma’s when I was little. Fabulous choice to feature!
