Good Monday morning everyone, and welcome to this week’s installment of Link Love! Today I’d like to introduce you to a blog I like to check often: North by East West. This is my favourite place to go on the web to catch up on whatever is happening in the world of Canadian music. At NxEW you’ll find news, reviews, concerts, shows and festivals, authored by an awesome (and large) group of folks from one side of the country to the other. If it’s happening here, you’ll find it there! You’ll also find a fantastic assortment of podcasts, which I just love. Go check them out…whether you’re looking to get the scoop on old favourites, or you want to discover someone new, you’ll find all the info you need at NxEW.ca!
Hello Folks! And Welcome to our six-month checkup! As July comes to a close we’re celebrating six months of daily (at least) posts covering as many aspects of Canadian talent as possible, with no end in site! Yayyyyy!
I would really, really like to say thank you to all the fantabulous Canadian Talent out there, without whom the site would be pretty lame indeed, and another thank you to all the readers, subscriber tweet and retweeters out there who go above and beyond to spread the word about IndieNorth. I can’t tell you how much it’s appreciated, and how much I’ve enjoyed “meeting” everyone. IndieNorth has connected me to so many fantastic new friends, and I’m just tickled!
So…what’s up in the next quarter?
We have a Music Contributor to cover the Canadian Indie Music Scene! If you don’t know her already, let me introduce you to Desirée Ossandon, professional bohemian, and writer extraordinaire. She’s already given us this fabulous interview with Darrelle London, and I’m really looking forward to more!
Are you interested in contributing to IndieNorth? Awesome! Please check here for the details…
I’ve also introduced a monthly “quicky”…which is basically a quick and easy way to contribute to IndieNorth, while getting some exposure for your own business! This month’s “quicky” is asking you to Pick a Tidbit…check it out!
I’ll be starting contests up again in September…you can read about why I’ve put them off for the summer here, but, in a nutshell, it boils down to the fact that I like to be a little flakey in the summer, and it’s just better if I don’t have to be back here on a specific day to do the draws. Posts will still go up daily though, through the miracle of the “schedule” feature WordPress kindly provides.
Nifty Themes for August:
August 2nd to the 8th:
Back to School: (which is really just an excuse to feed my school-supply addiction)
Let’s see what you have on tap for for the kiddos, (big and small): I’d love to see earth-friendly back to school stuff, clothes for kids, backpacks and bags, etc. etc. etc.
Remainder of August:
Let’s see you fall lines for grownups: clothes, jewelery, accessories, bags, purses…I want to know what you’ve got for us! Besides…it’s been so cool all summer we might as well start stocking up on Autumn goodies now!
The First week of October will be our Halloween Extravaganza…this is seriously my favourite time of the year, and I’m currently scheming to make IndieNorth the “go-to” for Canadian Halloweenie Goodness!
And, a quick note about me:
My husband and I have made a concrete decision to build our own home, off grid, mortgage free and using an unusual building method…I’m current setting up another website for us to share the adventure…watch for it, it’s going to be really fun. We’ll be sharing how-tos, advice, ups and downs, roadblocks, ideas and musings on the process. I’ll be sure to share the link as soon as I get the site up and running!
So, that’s it for today…thanks so much everybody, for being a part of my life. Stay tuned tomorrow for lots of linky love!
Beth

Heart charms in different sizes are inspired by the Grinch’s heart as it fills and grows… Bright pastels make it possible to carry the spirit of Christmas with you all year round!
b. Light Sweater Felted Merino and Sterling Sliver Earrings: Early spring…hope…new beginnings…anything is possible…and you still need a cosy sweater! These cheery leaf green merino wool felted bead and sterling silver earrings are inspired by these wishes.
c. Spring Dance Daffodil Vintage Lucite and Swarovski Crystal Earrings: Gorgeous yellow with white dotted vintage lucite balls (bought right here on Etsy from atomicveggie) are adorned with daffodil colored tutus of Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls…all ready for their spring dance. I LOVE these earrings!
d. Mad Hatters Tea Party Earrings: Luminescent moonglow rose pink and matte light orange vintage lucite, hot pink and fuchsia acrylic, opaque and translucent glass and lucite lime greens and a touch of yellow create a wild tea party in bold bubbles of color in this design. Gorgeous lime glass beads topped with fuchsia hang about 4cm (1.5″).
Today’s Tidbit was suggested by Patricia Wood of VerreDesign!
