Nifty Stuff from Peace of PI

peace

I happened upon Peace of PI by accident, and I’m so glad I did!  This gorgeous shop is full of original art, jewelery, housewares, and notebooks, and that’s just for starters!  The pieces in this shop are unique and magical, and it’s truly a joy to poke around there.  If you’re looking for something a little unusual, make sure you stop by Peace of PI!

Housewares: Dragon Tiles and Pottery

dragontiles

The richness of colour and the beauty of design over at Dragon Tiles and Pottery is just amazing!  You’ll find all sorts of practical dishware and gorgeous handmade tiles in their shop…everything you need to add a little bit of awesomeness to your home.

My partner and I ran a small commercial screen printing business here in Victoria British Columbia for almost 20 years. Digital technology was becoming more and more common and screen printing less and less in demand. So we made a switch from printing on paper to printing on clay. Who knew making a flat clay tile could be so hard. But we persisted and now have a technic for creating relief tiles with very fine detail. For more pictures visit our website – www.dragontiles.net

Music Monday: Matt Stern

Matt Stern

There’s just something about a song in a different language that speaks to me. I find myself enticed by the enigmas in the unknown words and mysterious sounds, concentrating on the tones and inflections of the voices to guess the meaning and messages. Match these beguiling lyrics with incredibly well-written tunes, and you have songs I listen to over and over again, lost in the music and my own thoughts.

This is where Matt Stern comes in. A native Montrealer, Matt uses the musical and linguistic influences of his world travels (which include France, Germany, Japan, China, and Nicaragua among others) to craft a sound that is unique and something oh-so-easy to fall in love with!

You can check out a preview of Matt’s upcoming still-untitled sophomore album on his site at www.myspace.com/matthewstern
and make sure to watch out for its release sometime late this fall.

Let me introduce you to The Trans Canada Etsy Team…your number one source for Canadian Fabulous-ness on Etsy!  I have never seen a bunch of folks who work so tirelessly promoting a group of Etsiers than this one.

Let me start by telling you a bit about their Team Canada Etsy store:

shop

A beautiful shop featuring products from some of the awesome members of the team.  It’s here you can also find these awesome goodie bags:

goodies

These are excellent selections of goodies donated by members and sold at an awesome price!

If the store weren’t enough, The Trans Canada Etsy Team also keeps it’s own team blog, which I just love:

It features information & profiles on team  members, special promotions & sales, and their new Monthly Challenge:  Each month, a challenge is issued and team members will submit a handmade entry that relates to the theme in some way. When the challenge closes, everyone will have an opportunity to vote for the entry that they think best represents the theme.

The theme this month is Autumn, and voting will begin on September 25, so come by then and vote for your favorite handmade, Canadian autumn creation!

Besides their shop and their store, you can follow the Trans-Canada Etsy Team on Twitter, to keep up to date with all their fabulous goings on!

A great big thank you to the Trans-Canada Etsy Team for being our Rockstar Sponsor for the month of September.  You support is so very appreciated!
