The IndieNorth Holiday Gift Guide!

intropost

***EMBARRASSING CONFESSION TIME***

This post actually posted much earlier than I expected, and I didn’t notice it had already gone up!  There’s quite a bit I’d like to add, but for now just post your questions in the comments section and I’ll answer them right away!

Okie Dokie Folks!

HOT DIGGITY!  Here we are on the cusp of the Holiday season for 2009!  I can’t believe it’s already here.  Besides working to iron out the kinks in the new layout, I’ve been busy putting together The Holiday Gift Guide for IndieNorth!  Shazzam!

So, here’s the scoop…The Holiday Gift Guide will be Launched on November 1st 2009, and it will stay up until Dec 31st 2009 (ish)  Afterwards it will convert back into the friends gallery.

On October 18th the Friends Gallery will go offline for a little bit so I can transform it into the Gift Guide.  This is just such a neato way to do the guide.  Why?  Because even though there will be a number of higher profile product spots available for a reasonable fee, your free listing will still remain in the gallery as a searchable entry!  Nifty, isn’t it?

So…what do I consider reasonable fee for a listing in the Gift Guide?

Here’s the thing:  I want this guide to be packed full of Canadian Awesome-ness.  I don’t want it just be one of many guides floating around on the internet…I’d love to pack it full.  I really, really want it to be a fabulous resource for people who are looking to shop online for their holiday goodies.  I also want to make sure that it’s completely affordable for small business.  So,

How’s $5 sound?

Yup.  Five buckaroos to get your 135 x 135 pixel image of your awesome product listed in the category of your choice, along with it’s price, it’s name, the name of your shop and a link directly to said product.  Not too painful, is it?

There will also be the opportunity to get a front page spot, and 430 x 300 pixel product image in the category of your choice for $35.00.  There will only be nine of these front page spots available…one for each category, and they’ll be given out on a first come, first served basis.

I’ll be posting the sign up form shortly…Like I confessed, I wasn’t quite ready to release the post yet!  lol

So…How will I be getting the word out about the IndieNorth Holiday Gift Guide?

  1. Through the main blog (obviously), through twitter and through facebook
  2. I’ll be begging bloggers to link back to it, and I’ll provide several different sized buttons for them to choose from
  3. I’m currently awaiting the arrival of a monster load of business card sized advertisements, which I’ll be sending out to a “Street Team” of sorts to be handed out to folks who may not otherwise have heard about the gift guide.  If you’re doing “real life” Holiday shows and you’d like to hand out a few cards, drop me a line.  I’ll keep sending them out until they’re gone.
  4. I’ll be creating a flyer in pdf format, which will be available for download, should you wish to stick one to a bulletin board somewhere.

Annnnd…I’m sure I’ll think of many more ways to get the word out as we go.
