If you don’t know them already, I’d love to take the opportunity to introduce you to The Scribble Group…a fabulous collective of artists on etsy! I don’t think I could explain their project any better than they already have, so let me quote right from their site:
[The Scribble Group is] ” The brain child of the fabulous and talented emmarts.etsy.com. The concept is to practise the art of being creative while letting go of preconceived thoughts and barriers of what art ‘should’ look like. Art for arts’ sake. The first scribble group was held in spring of 2009 and more projects will follow. All artworks are to be sold and the proceeds going to charity.”

‘Use words, not guns’
the project originated through a city wide task force on guns and gangs violence intervention and prevention. My task was to identify the long term needs of the families affected by random gun violence. I had a small budget to work with and had to write grant proposals as well as seeking sponsors so that the families in my group would be helped – but as my health declined and I became less able to perform my duties, especially the fundraising, and the official program was cut. I could not let it go and since then I’ve done what I can to help this group of kids through the trauma, sometimes simply providing basic needs, accessing resources and providing emotional support as they grow and move on. Part (ok, most) of my etsy shop ( stuffbysteph77.etsy.com ) profits go to supporting these kids, however I can.
The winter months are upon us and the needs are high. I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Scribble Group’s ‘love and heart of scribbling’- – many thanks for considering us!
Go check out the awesome works of art available at The Scribble Group!
