I am always fascinated by people who are able to meld their different loves and talents to create a unique and stunning vision, and Julie of Wabibrook Studio certainly does that. A retired equestrian trainer turned artist/artisan, Julie creates beautiful jewelery that always looks so elegant in it’s hand forged, almost rough hewn simplicity. It’s just so cool. Not one to stick with a singular medium however, Julie is also an accomplished artist, offering beautiful prints and notecards, as well as custom portraits by request. Go exploring over at Julie’s webpage, or her etsy shop. You’ll be as entranced as I am.
- Dewdrops Sterling Silver and Pearl Leaf Pendant: Three tiny gleaming white pearl dewdrops drip off an oxidized sterling silver hand formed leaf. Sterling silver wire was heated, formed, hammered and oxidized, then tumble polished to add durability and shine. Fresh-water seed pearls were then added.
- Jazz the Border Collie 8 x 10 Print: $5 from the sale of each print will be donated to the Ontario Border Collie Rescue Association. This is a print of a portrait I did of my husband’s dog Jazz. He adopted her through the Ontario Border Collie Rescue Association nearly 3 years ago. She was one messed up little dog when we met her! She had been through several owners, each one seemingly less capable of living with an extremely intelligent, ultra high energy Border Collie than the last. One apartment-dwelling owner even kept her on a leash all the time. I mean ALL the time – inside the apartment as well as outside. I cannot for the life of me fathom the reason for that! Living on a sheep farm, and having owned and bred working Border Collies for many years, we thought we might be able to offer this damaged, angry, anti-social little creature a new lease on life. It’s been a long haul, but with much patience, kindness, and at times firmness, she is now an affectionate, joyful member of our family, and is practically inseparable from my husband. About the only thing that will tear her from his side is the offer of a ride in the truck. Sometimes.
- Bramble, Oxidized Fused Sterling Silver Ring: Tangled. Organic. Free-spirited.
This ring was free-formed and fused from sterling silver wire, then darkly oxidized, lightly sanded to bring up some highlights and tumble polished to deep shine. Each ring is unique with it’s own character.
What a lovely surprise to wake up to! Thank you Beth for this feature!
