Portobello East Market…Awesome Fashion and Art Market for the GTA’ers
Okay…I have absolutely amazing news for you GTAers down there…in case you haven’t discovered it yet, Portobello East is the Toronto-born sister of Portobello West…a phenomenal market which was created to provide a low-cost venue for local
artists and designers to show and sell their goods in Vancouver and Calgary.
Portobello East is a monthly market open the last Sunday of the month from March to December, with a two day season opener in March and a two day Holiday show in December. It takes place at The Burroughes Building at 639-647 Queen Street West…I don’t need to tell you what an awesome part of the city this is! Another awesome bonus? Admission to the public is free! How many Holiday shows can say that?
Now…I have a bit of exiting news. Portobello East has a limited number of spaces available for their two day Holiday show. This is just such an great opportunity, and I know there are a lot of you out there who would be an fantastic fit for this venue, so get over to the Portobello East website and have a look for yourself!

In The News: Bijouxbead!
Heads up Toronto & area! Darlene Martin of Bijouxbead has a fabulous new exhibition on! This one benefiting PARC…Parkdale Activity-Recreation Center; “a community where people rebuild their lives”.!
Says Darlene:
“After my first opening in the neighbourhood, I decided that I would have a special exhibition in Parkdale to benefit PARC,” Martin says. “I also want to inspire people to learn more about Parkdale’s history, challenges, art and culture.”

Peppermaster’s Sexy Salsa Financing Project
Many of you will remember our post about Peppermaster: A Culinary Adventure…spicey, yummy sauces and mashes made from locally produced and fair trade sourced hot peppers. Well, it would seem that they could use a bit of a hand…here’s Tina Brooks, VP Marketing, Peppermaster(TM) Hot Sauces to let you know what’s going on, and how you can help:
Our company Brooks Pepperfire Foods a small independently owned hot sauce company and small batch co-packer has been rapidly expanding.
We have been working with a Government funded company CIDEM-Techno (http://www.cidem.ca) to upgrade our business operations and open our new kitchen using the available government small businesses assistance. The spinoff of this project was 12 new jobs which are sorely needed. An abrupt closure of CIDEM-Techno, who was providing our financial and technical business advisors, has forced us to come up with an interim solution that will buy us the time to replace these much needed resources.
