Nifty Bits from SewDandee!

Love the fun cards and switchplate covers over at SewDandee!!!  Andee is currently switching her stock over to 100% Post Consumer Waste products.  She’s always willing to customize a phrase for you, so drop her a line if you have an idea in mind.

She also has  a running Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal on all her cards, and  a 10 for $40 deal, so go check out her shop today!

  1. Funny Baby Card:  For all those crafty mom’s to be who insist on making EVERYTHING! With a little help from a man, of course.
  2. Pinup Girl Switchplate Cover:  One of the many beautiful and sexy Gil Elvgren images! Gotta love a bike ride on a windy day!  All of my switch plates are made using a solid, plastic switch plate and each one comes with screws. I use an adhesive backed paper to print the images onto. The image is then applied to the switch plate and then covered with two layers of decopodge and then a layer of varnish. This allows for cleaning with a damp cloth if needed.
  3. Funny Birthday Card:  For those friends who just can’t admit the truth. Let me know if you want 40ish or 50ish or whatever-ish instead of the 30ish.

The Most Fabulous Owl Ever, from McBrideHouse

The ultra-talented Bella McBride of McBrideHouse does it again, this time needlefelting the cutest, most precious little owl soft sculpture I’ve ever seen!

“He respects Owl, because you can’t help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn’t spell it right.” From Winnie the Pooh.

In the warm summer nights, when the window is open and a soft breeze is blowing in, and I’m just drifting off to sleep I can hear an owl in the woods nearby. If I listen carefully I can hear another voice further away. Soft hoos and coos, almost purring to each other. It’s a great way to fall asleep.

Mr Owl (how do I know he’s a Mister? Just look at those bushy eyebrows! No self respecting Lady Owl would have eyebrows like that!) is made from a technique called needle felting, which involves poking and prodding different colours of wool with a extremely sharp barbed needle until you reach the perfect shape. It literally takes thousands of pokes to reach just the right sculpture. He is free standing and his wire wrapped legs are bendable to allow slight adjustments to make him steady.

Even though Mr Owl hardly weighs a thing he is approx. 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) tall from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head. He is beautiful to look at, and he comes from a smoke free home, but he is not a children’s toy.

Mr Owl is made from combining a mixed chocolate brown colour with a creamy white. This makes him to be extremely unique and a one of a kind item. Remember different monitors may show colours slightly different then they actually are, but trust me, I’ve worked very hard in picking out just the right colours to bring these sculptures to life!

Just perfect!

Sweet Handpainted Tote from LeahJaneDesigns

I just love octopi, and I *love* the sweet simplicity of this Handpainted tote from LeahJaneDesigns!!!  So cute!

This adorable mini tote bag has a striking octopus design on one side. The other side is unpainted. The gorgeous bright blue colour of this cute little sea creature is stunning against the vivid hot pink background of the tote bag.

The fabric paints are all permanent and washable. However, I recommend you turn the bag inside out during the washing cycle (delicate cycle or hand wash only) and iron on the reverse side.

Children will love this cute and colourful bag, which is an ideal size for gift-giving, party/loot bag etc. The colours are so vivid and warm and just perfect to brighten up a gloomy day! The bag has been hand-painted with three layers of fabric paint to ensure the design will last, so children can use this little bag every day. It’s a perfect size as a small handbag for children or to store small toys and crayons in.

Cute as a button!

Nifty Handmade Spinning Tops from Sleeping Forest

Aren’t these the coolest?  Handmade spinning tops from Sleeping Forest!  For every parent who ever drives themselves nuts in December looking for really cool stocking stuffers, now is your chance to sock away something really unique!

This is for a set of three spinning tops.

These little tops (about 1-1/2″ to 2″ around) have been handturned on the lathe by Jai Soloy. He colours them by hand while they are still on the lathe. Each top spins a little differently, and with a little practice, they will all spin upside-down as well.

Put these in a bowl on the table, and we guarantee hours of fun.

You will get a set of random colours that we think look good together, unless otherwise specified. If you have something specific in mind, we can do custom orders for specific colours with one week’s notice. The ink we use conforms to ASTM D-4236 and is certified non-toxic, so it is safe for even the littlest ones :)

Cool, cool, cool!
