This is so cool! I had the good fortune to win a recent contest held by Linda of Nun of a Kind. I was able to choose from any of the fun Sisters who populate the nunnery over there, and after much deliberation I settled on “Sister Nun of your Business”. I have her now, sitting on my desk holding a stack of business cards, and making sure I don’t slack off!
I have to say, she is just beautiful. The workmanship is amazing, and she looks great standing up there.
Thanks so much Linda, I just love her!
Good morning! Thanks so much to everyone who entered our contest for ad space on IndieNorth! The winners are as follows:
Sophie from Flair for Fabric!!!
Send your 125 x 125 pixel banner to ads@indienorth.com with a link to the site you’d like me to link it to!
Congrats Sophie!!
Thank you so much to everyone for entering!! I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy this contest…I love hearing everyones thoughts about your fellow Canadian businesses!
Well, the official summer is winding down to a close…Thing One is heading back to school, which puts a bit of a damper on the ol’ social calender, but on the upside, it leaves a lot more time for IndieNorth fun!
So, as a great big thank you to the Canadian Indie Businesses that make IndieNorth what it is, we’re going to start the contest season with my favourite game:
*In order to enter this particular contest, you must be a Canadian running a business in Canada, and you must have a web presence. Either a shop, or a website for instance.
To enter:
Visit the shop/website of the person who commented above you and comment here about your favourite item or service they offer.
*****You must post your website (or shop) address right inside the comments section of your entry. That way, the next entrant will be able to visit your site and comment on it for their entry*****
Please do not hotlink your website address in your comment…otherwise the spam filter will jump all over it. Post your address like this:
www[dot]yourwebsite[dot]com/blah.html
You can enter by playing “The Person Above Me” Once Per Day!
For Extra Entries, once per day, you can:
“what’s the prize”, you ask?
This week’s draw will be for one month of banner advertising on IndieNorth! The winner will supply a 125×125 pixel banner ad, and it will appear in the far right column of IndieNorth for 30 days from the day it goes up! Hooray!!
“How many winners”, you ask?
Here’s the fun part…since this really is a fun contest, I’m offering the following:
If I get between 1 and 49 entrants, I will award 1 ad spot!
If I get between 50 and 99, I will award 2 ad spots
If over 100 people enter, I will award 3 ad spots
So please, please, please spread the word about this contest…I really think it will be a fun way to get the word around about all the fabulous Canadian talent out there!
The not so fine print…winners will be contacted on September 7th via the e-mail address they provide, and will have 48 hours to provide me with a 125 pixel banner. If I don’t receive the banner ad by the end of 48 hours, I’ll have to choose a new winner.
Good luck, and please, twitter, facepook, plurk and post about this contest! Let’s make it a biggie!

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Wayfarin’ Wednesday; a weekly feature profiling various awesome adventures hosted by small Canadian tour operators, bed and breakfasts and adventure guides.
This week brings us to Bancroft Ontario, To visit The Gathering Place, a fabulous cordwood constructed round home on a beautiful pond.

[The Gathering Place]…Is a unique Four Season Bed and Breakfast experience. The house is cord stack wall, built in 1995. Guests have access from each bedroom to the trout pond and gardens. Nature trails lead through the property to a beaver pond. The Gathering Place offers spacious parking, 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms with full breakfast included. All rooms are non smoking. No cats.

I’m already fascinated, and ready to see more!
