Aren’t these the coolest? Handmade spinning tops from Sleeping Forest! For every parent who ever drives themselves nuts in December looking for really cool stocking stuffers, now is your chance to sock away something really unique!

This is for a set of three spinning tops.

These little tops (about 1-1/2″ to 2″ around) have been handturned on the lathe by Jai Soloy. He colours them by hand while they are still on the lathe. Each top spins a little differently, and with a little practice, they will all spin upside-down as well.

Put these in a bowl on the table, and we guarantee hours of fun.

You will get a set of random colours that we think look good together, unless otherwise specified. If you have something specific in mind, we can do custom orders for specific colours with one week’s notice. The ink we use conforms to ASTM D-4236 and is certified non-toxic, so it is safe for even the littlest ones ”

Serene: This lovely image is from the talented artist at MadArt. It is a photo transfer on white polymer clay. It has been baked,sanded and sealed with a thick coat of resin for protection. It has a silver plated bail and comes hanging on an 18″ teal blue silk cord.
Dragonfly Necklace: This is such a pretty pendant that it is one of my bestsellers. Oval pendant measures 1″x 1.5″ and is sanded and sealed with resin for protection. It has a sterling silver plated bail and comes on an 18″ blue organza and cord ribbon necklace or an 18″ brown waxed cotton cord necklace. At checkout please state which one you would like. The photos show both necklaces.

Whatcha Wearing this Spring?

Well, I’d be a fool to think that this warm spell we’ve been having across Ontario is going to hold on much longer, but in the meantime, I find myself searching for warm weather wearables…and I’ve found some awesome ones at DesignsbyAmber!

Grey Bird and Nest Wrap Top: This 100% cotton wrap is so soft and the sleeves are nice and long too, I love that. I silkscreened a bird on the back and a nest on the sleeve in black ink. You can wrap it in a few different ways as pictured, perfect for layering over a tank or tube top.
Pink Owl Tee: This is a women’s gauze poofy-sleeve tee with a scoop neck; slightly tapered waist; rib neck and sleeves. Wash in cold water, dry on low heat.
Dandylion in Da Wind Hoodie: This top is a brown eco-fabric with a hood and dandylion silkscreen on the back in black ink.

Refrain: Brilliant Independent Film from Tyler Gibb

I am so excited to introduce you to today’s feature. Refrain is an independent movie just coming out on the scene, and I can tell just by watching the trailer that it’s going to be absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to see the whole thing! Tyler Gibb runs a home based film production company, and he’s set to release his latest creation to the public tomorrow!

Says Tyler:

“Refrain is a movie about a young songwriter who uses her music to overcome oppression and cyclical violence.

It was done on a non-existent budget and was truly a labour of love. Our first “product” for Refrain – a DVD – is finally set to come out next week. In addition to the DVD we also produced a lot of music for the film and these songs are all available for free on our website.”

As everyone knows, I have a real soft spot for labours of love, and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to picking up this DVD!!! You can check out the Refrain trailer here.

Now…while I have you here, Make sure you check out a particularly cool aspect of the production of Refrain, known as “The Side Project“. Again, I’m going to leave it to Tyler to explain:

“the “Side Project” and it’s a companion piece to the movie where we opened up all the original songs we’d written for the soundtrack to the interpretation of other indie musicians. We told them to run wild with the tracks. They could remix them, straight up cover them, or alter their arrangement in any way they wished. The results were really inspiring and we put all these Side Project songs up on the website for free download as well, to help spread the word about these struggling artists.”

How cool is that? And awesome film with fabulous music, and a shared chance at the spotlight! I love it to bits!!! Go Check out Refrain, and The Side Project today…you’ll be so glad you did!!!

Do I even need to say it? Oh, what the heck: “I LOVE this hat/purse”!!! It’s available over at the Dayzee1 etsy shop, and also comes in a variety of other colours. There’s something purely awesome about a hat that you can take off, tie the ties together and use it as purse…seriously…pure genius! I’ll be watching Dayzee1 for sure!
